Women's Campaign
Women should have the right to a high degree of social quality through being treated fairly and equally in the work place, their homes and on the streets. Empowering women to pursue their aims, goals and objectives in becoming Chief Executive Officers, Business Entrepreneurs, astronauts, mine workers, neurosurgeons or any political, economic, governance, management, leadership or occupational appointment or career path they wish to pursue and achieve. LSBUSU believe that women are not being treated equally in our society.
An Article
Women have long played an important but unrecognised and increasingly unacknowledged role in socio-economic, sociological, leadership and socio- anthropological affairs nationally as well as globally.History records the existence of ancient societies and civilisations that were governed and administered by women, but industrial, post industrial and contemporary society either is unaware of this fact or is unwilling to acknowledge it.As far back as recorded history, women have been the main stay of society through the family unit from when men were primarily hunter gatherers, according to post modern and modern anthropologists. The family unit is the corner stone of any society. Women being in charge of the daily running of the home and the nurturing, education and instruction of their children who represents the future of humanity in imparting to them the necessary skills knowledge and techniques and in time the experience needed in becoming a wholesome and valued member of society or indeed a leader or influencer of society. Famous women like Maya Angelou, (American poet) Nancy Birdsall, known through her "growth and poverty" reduction speech (1997), Beth Chapman; "stand up for America" speech. These and other woman has proven time and time again that women are just as capable as men physically and intellectually. Women can be just as dynamic as men if not more so and can also be vastly creative. To put it mildly; no man on this planet would be able to carry a life inside them for nine months and survive, let alone attend to their daily chores, love, protect, nurture and teach their children while going through this biological, and spiritual process. My step mother and I never really saw eye to eye on most matters but she thought me many things two of which was always take responsibility for your actions and treat people the way I would like to be treated. Women have over the ages been looked upon as inferior to men in terms of being the weaker sex and as being a liability but this are far from the truth. Shirley Chisholm (member of United States house of representative) hits the nail on the head when she stated; "the unspoken assumption is that women are different". "They do not have executive ability; orderly minds, leadership skills, stability and they are too emotional" (Washington DC, May 1969) Contemporary women leaders like Hillary Clinton and Condoleeza Rice would I believe certainly have a thing or two to say about this type of ideology. Its time that society realises that woman is equal to man and that she has always been. Its time that she is allowed to take her rightful place in the boardroom and the conference room. Its time she is allowed to take her place as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chancellor of the Ex-Checker. Its time she takes her rightful place as Neuro-surgeon, astronaut, Mine worker, its time she takes her place as being equally the head of the home.Until all these basic rights and privileges are realised by women without regard to race, colour, nationality, ideology or personal beliefs my dear mother and sister will never be able to reach her full potential in being the mother of the universe.
